Mount Gretna School of Art
About the Client
Mount Gretna School of Art provides life-changing and transformative opportunities for artists to develop from the time they are students through their emergent careers.
EDIBLE LANDSCAPE
Illustration | Typography
The Mount Gretna School of Art’s Edible Landscape charity event is a must-go to this year! The alumni of TMGSoA will be showcasing some of their work as donors mingle around the flora and fauna of Mount Gretna.
Problem:
Create a poster that best describes what an “Edible Landscape” is without being too direct about it. How do you make a poster about an event that has nothing to do with eating landscapes? How do you make that about art?
Must include:
Information about location, date, and time
A QR code that brings the viewers to the RSVP site
Research
In the past, posters for these kinds of events have always included Mount Gretna's foliage. I wanted to make sure that a significant portion of my final design included elements of nature during my study. Additionally, I needed to confirm that the design itself encompassed the general definition of an "Edible Landscape." That would be for the benefit of both the new participants and the seasoned ones.
Annual student show
Illustration | Typography | Brand Awareness
Mount Gretna wants to show the best of their students at the Mount Gretna Student Art show. Come visit and see the showcase of the talents students of Mount Gretna!
Problem:
Create a 5 ft X 7 ft banner advertising the Annual Student Art Show of Mount Gretna. The client wants it to include a fresh and appealing look to counter the darker aesthetic of their branding.
Must include:
Previously made silhouette of a painter
Soft/feminine aesthetic to counter the harsher branding of MGSoA
Summer feeling
Research
The research I initially did was to make sure that the banner didn’t look like those half-assed banners you see where they just want to get their point across.
I wanted the banner to get the point across and to look amazing! The kind of banner that you see and say “Wow! I‘ll go and check that out! Maybe take a picture of that!”
